Test Shots

These test shots show what we could do to our main production which is a music video to Salute by Little Mix. We have shown the range of shots we could possibly use when shooting our production such as panning, tracking etc. This would make our music video more interesting and unique especially when jump cutting it between shots. The reason we did this activity was so we could see any potential shots we could use in our final product. In my opinion some of the test shots could have been better. This is something we could consider proving or our final production.

Furthermore by doing test shots we can see what would go with our chosen song Salute, which means when we film properly we know what shots we need to improve or try differently. By doing test shots we also can get an idea of how we can edit to make our production look professional.

Question one shows that the majority of people answering the questionnaire were 18 years of age or under which would effect our results and the perception of our music video as the majority completing the questionnaire were of a similar age to my group and I. Question two presents that more males were answering then females, this is contradictory as the band Little Mix are mainly supported by females. Question three shows how many people watch music videos, this could be via YouTube or any social media. The answers suggest that music videos are still extremely important to promote the song and perhaps has a effect on how the song is perceived. Question four shows what genre of music is popular. The results present that Pop is the most frequently played genre of music and its what people prefer. This relates to our music video as the genre is Pop. Question five shows us how people watch music videos, the most selected answer is YouTube, this shows that when people listen to a song they like they will search the music video as it could add to the meaning of the song, or just add interest. Music videos such as Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus, have presented a media up rise as the music video is very symbolic to the song itself.

Overall the results from the questionnaire show different perspectives of selling a CD and making a music video. The results show us that young people in the twenty-first century still think a music video is important and has impact on the actual song itself. These results will help my group and I when making our music video as we can use the information we have gathered from this questionnaire to make our overall product successful.

Creative Journey

We planned to start filming our music video on the Friday 11th November 2016. My group and I planned to film in Birmingham city centre. This is because it is a public place and is very different to the town we live in, Tamworth. In Birmingham we filmed in a café, which we asked permission of the workers, and they allowed us to film. We used a Sony HD camera to film the scene for our music video. We did a range of shots to ensure we had enough footage to edit and use. Unfortunately we planned to film in Grand Central but we had to get permission for filming, and we couldn't for that particular day. This was an issue we had to try and improvise and find a place similar which was open to the public.

We plan to go to Kingsbury Water Park to film some performance scenes. We chose there because the are is large which gave us the opportunity to use a range of locations and shots. We plan to film there on the 19th November 2016.

Changing Groups:

I decided to change groups because in the group I was in I didn't feel like I could have achieved my very best. The decision was made on the 18th November. I know this means I would have loads of work to catch up on, but both me and my peers decided it was for the best so we could all get the grades we are striving for.

The group I have moved into are doing a music video also, this was ideal as all the research I had done into the music industry was still of use. The song we are doing is Salute by Little Mix. We chose this song as its upbeat and empowering to women across the world. The message of our music video will be challenging conventions of stereotypes. This links in with feminism which is an on going movement in the world. I am very passionate about equality and everyone being equal. This is why we picked this song. When i joined the group we had just started the filming process. We planned to film in Ankerside Car Park, located in Tamworth. This is because its a large area and we wanted to do choreography to the song, so this area was suitable to film.

Filming:
We filmed scenes at a car park located in Tamworth on the 25th November. We used two DSLR cameras which gave us the opportunity of filming different angles in takes, which saved us time. Not only this it would show that we have used different angles and shots in our production. This mean we got filming done faster. While filming we used different locations around the car park as it is quite large and as the day was sunny we filmed in both lights, the shade and the light.

Editing:

We have recorded most of our music video. Whilst watching the clips we had filmed we realise we needed to fill in some gaps within our production. We need to film some more performance to fill the gaps with.
